Job Description for Accountant

Accountant Grade 12 (One position) – OUK
The Duties And Responsibilities Shall Include But Are Not Limited To:
- Verification of payment vouchers in accordance with the laid down rules and regulations;
- Heading a section;
- Preparing Final Accounts;
- Approval of payments;
- Approving payment data before inputting it into the system to confirm validity and accuracy;
- Supervision of staff;
- Conducting staff appraisal for the subordinates for performance evaluation and identification of training needs for capacity building;
- Dealing with External Auditors on all queries pertaining to financial statements;
- Ensuring quality accounting reporting framework to ensure proper preparation of financial statements and annual reports;
- Knowledge of the Public Finance Management Act, 2012 (Regulations, 2015), Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Act, 2015, local taxation laws, and all other laws governing management and financial reporting.
For Accountant To This Grade, One MUST Have:
- A Master’s degree in a relevant field and a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized University in a relevant field such as Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration;
- CPA (K) plus nine (9) years relevant experience three (3) years of which MUST be at Accountant II Grade 11;
- Shown unquestionable integrity;
- Certificate in proficiency of the application of ERP systems in processing transactions;
- Knowledge of the Public Finance Management Act, 2012 (Regulations 2015), Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Act, 2015, local taxation laws, and all other laws governing management and financial reporting.
