Job Description for Tourism Officer
Pursuant to the provisions of Article 235 of Constitution of Kenya, 2010 and Section 59 of the County Governments Act No. 17 of 2012, Nakuru County Public Service Board invites applications from qualified Kenyan citizens to fill the following vacant position of Officer.
Tourism Officer II – Nakuru County
Requirements for Appointment
For Appointment to this grade a candidate must have:-
- Bachelors’ degree in any of the following disciplines: Tourism, Tourism Management, Tourism and Hospitality Management, Eco-tourism, Hotel and Institutional Management and Information Technology, Travel and Tours Operations, International Tourism Management, Hospitality Management, Travel and Tourism Management; Hotel and Hospitality Management or its’ equivalent from a recognized institution; and
- Certificate in Computer Application from a recognized institution.
Duties and Responsibilities of Tourism Officer
This will be the entry and training grade for degree holders. An officer at this level will work under the guidance and supervision of a Senior Officer.
Specific duties and responsibilities will entail:
- Identifying and preparing simple reports on tourism product;
- Identifying Small and Medium Tourism Enterprises (SMTE’s) and communitybased tourism projects;
iii. Inspecting and preparing reports on tourism facilities and service providers;
- Collecting data and information for development of tourism guide books and tourism statistics; and
- Identifying suitable locations for mounting tourist signages.
