Job Description for Associate Professors
The Open University of Kenya aims to address the pressing issue of limited capacity in traditional universities by employing innovative teaching and learning methodologies, including online and distance education. Associate Professors Grade 14 (Post 4) – Open University of Kenya
The Duties And Responsibilities Shall Include But Are Not Limited To:
- Teach, guide, supervise, research, and publish;
- Write proposals for student and staff development funding;
- Conduct research and disseminate findings widely;
- Review articles to maintain teaching quality;
- Refine curricula to meet market demands;
- Develop materials for optimal learning;
- Supervise scholars for quality education;
- Foster industry and university collaborations;
- Establish community knowledge links;
- Contribute expertise to committees;
- Develop policies for training efficiency;
- Serve as an external examiner;
- Assess student practical applications;
- Provide tutoring and mentorship to students;
- Lead program development for excellence.
For Associate Professors To This Grade, One MUST Have:
- An earned Ph.D. or equivalent degree qualification in the relevant field from an accredited university recognized by the OUK Senate;
- At least three (3) years of teaching experience as a Senior Lecturer or equivalent and research experience;
- A minimum of forty-eight (48) publication points as a Senior Lecturer or equivalent of at least thirty-two (32) should be from refereed scholarly journals;
- Supervised a minimum of four (4) postgraduate students to completion, including at least one (1) doctoral student;
- Attracted research or development funds as a Senior Lecturer/Senior Research Fellow;
- Registered with the relevant professional body (where applicable);
- Have attracted research or development funds or educational resources as a Senior Lecturer or its equivalent.
