Job Purpose for Research and Data Officer

Under the guidance of the MEAL Officer, the Research and data officer will ensure accurate data collection through training and field support of Community Health Assistance’s (CHAs), teacher and Health Care Workers (HCW) on accurate and timely data collection. He/she will also summarize data and support in report writing and timely monthly MOH reporting of ophthalmic data.

Responsibilities

• To ensure that there is teamwork in the unit.
• Facilitate patient comfort
• Facilitate communication with patients and relatives
• Facilitate management of patient records recognizing rules of patients’ confidentiality and privacy
• Facilitate endoscopy suite cleanliness
• Facilitate transport of patients e.g.to x-ray
• Facilitate the maintenance of department inventory and supplies as instructed.
• Give Spiritual care.
• Perform any other duty as assigned from time to time.

Qualifications for Research and Data Officer

1. Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences, applied biology, medical laboratory, and other relevant courses
2. Master’s degree is an added advantage
3. Experience in scientific writing and publications
4. Excellent computer skills
5. Minimum of two years’ experience in research in a busy institution
