Position: G.I.S Officer
Job Description
The County Public Service Board of Bungoma wishes to recruit competent and qualified persons to fill the under mentioned positions in the Department of Lands, Urban, Physical Planning and Housing.
Duties and responsibilities for G.I.S Officer
- a) Design, develop and customize geographic information systems and provide technical and analytical support.
- b) Supporting in the development and management on growing and improving Departmental demands.
- c) Building and maintaining G.I.S databases and utilizing the G.I.S software to analyze the spatial and no spatial information in the database.
- d) Developing and managing control quality standards for system application.
- e) Performing data capture and analysis of G.I.S product and interpret spatial and Geographic data for use.
- f) Overseeing data flow management and distribution activities that are aimed at supporting G.I.S.
- g) Maintaining up to date and accurate geospatial documentation for reference purposes.
- h) Efficiently managing geospatial data and developing effective maps and aerial photography and
- i) Doing analysis to produce high quality maps and reports to provide advice for Local Land Services (L.L.S) and for internal and external clients.
Requirements for G.I.S Officer
For appointment to this grade a candidate must:
- a) Be a Kenyan citizen.
- b) Have a bachelor’s degree in Cartography, Photogrammetry and remote sensing Geoinformatics or any other related field from a recognized institution of higher learning.
- c) High analytical thinking to effectively analyze information database.
- d) Good oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- e) Profound G.I.S knowledge as a G.I.S specialist is expected to work with G.I.S tools.
- f) Ability to pay particular attention to details to work with databases and analyze information and
- g) Certificate in Computer Application Skills.
